Background

The Frankston City Mayoral Bursary Program offers one-off financial assistance to Frankston students to address these issues of disadvantage. Designed to strengthen values of giving back to the community, this assistance will contribute to the health and wellbeing of the community, to the development of skills and trades for business and employment generation, and support economic growth.

Bursary Funding

One bursary of $2,000 and six of $500 will be available to students commencing studies in Semester 2 of 2011, or Semester 1 of 2012.

The bursaries will be available to students from a disadvantaged background who without financial assistance, may be required to abandon further studies.

Funding is intended to assist with –

 course fees
 materials
 study support equipment
 travel


Eligibility

This award will be available to residents of Frankston City who are enrolled at Chisholm Institute of TAFE, Frankston campus, in health, community services or welfare courses; or in Trades courses for occupations that are included in the “Skill Shortage List, Victoria 2010” –

Applications made on the Caroline Chisholm Education Foundation Frankston City Mayoral Bursary Application Form, available via e-mail from the Executive Officer of the Foundation – ccef@chisholm.edu.au - or on the Foundation website – www.CarolineChisholm.org.au - will be accepted from residents of Frankston City who meet the following requirements:

 Individual or family adversity
 Economic barriers to further study
 Existing or prospective students undertaking courses in health, community services or welfare or Trade courses on the Skills Shortages list

Holders of a Low Income Card are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, hold a permanent humanitarian visa, or with the exception of degrees, be eligible for a Government subsidised place

NOTE: It is strongly advised that applicants indicate clearly on the Application Form any disadvantages to further study, which may include current or lifetime experiences.
